Casein clots in the stomach and releases its amino acids over hours, which is why it is the powder used at night rather than whey. Milk, cocoa, peanut butter and a small banana make it a drink rather than a supplement.

Ingredients

Milk 2.5%
300 milliliters
Casein Protein Powder
1 scoop (30 grams)
Cocoa Powder
1 tablespoon (5 grams)
Peanut Butter
1 tablespoon (16 grams)
Banana
1 small (101 grams)
Steps
Blend the milk, cocoa and casein on their own first. Casein thickens the moment it wets, and any lumps that form now will not break up later.
1 min
Add the peanut butter and the banana and blend 20 seconds more.
1 min
Drink it within a few minutes. Left standing, casein sets to a pudding — which is fine if that is what you wanted.
1 min
Serving suggestion
Use cold milk. Casein in warm milk thickens almost instantly.
Storage
Made to be drunk at once; it sets solid in the fridge.
Notes
Whey works if that is what you have, but it will not do the slow-release part.
